Biography    

DENISE HAM (GTCL, LTCL, ARCM, Hon ARAM) is one of Europe's foremost teachers of conducting, much in demand as a director of courses and workshops. Tutor in Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the internationally renowned Canford Summer School of Music, she has also trained and conducted orchestras in the UK and Europe.

She has held principal conductorships of the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Birmingham Conservatoire Junior School, the Cheltenham Chamber Orchestra and the Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra. Guest conducting has taken her to Germany, Spain, Bermuda and Greece.

She teaches internationally, giving courses in Australia, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, Tenerife and throughout the UK. She is frequently asked by education authorities to give courses for their conductors. In 2006 Denise was appointed Head of Conducting Studies at Blackheath Conservatoire, London.

Her instructional video "The Craft of Conducting" was released in a new version on DVD in 2004.
